Dr. Bhattacharjee completed her graduation from Lady Brabourne College in 1999 and postgraduation form Calcutta University, in 2001.
Dr. Bhattacharjee after qualifying NET in 2002, joined Cellular and Molecular Immunology lab, Department of Physiology, Dr. B. C. Roy Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (I.P.G.M.E & R) for doctoral work under the guidance of Professor Swapna Chaudhuri.
Her work was based on Immuno-molecular approach towards the reduction of Brain Tumor. Later on she cracked the CSIR-SRF Fellowship in 2005.
She had to forego the fellowship after enjoying it for 1½ years as she joined Department of Zoology, Vivekananda College as an Assistant Professor in 2006 and has been serving the Department since then. She was awarded her Ph.D in 2009.
Dr. Bhattacharjee has 35 Scientific National and International Publications to her credit notable amongst which are her publications in International Immunology (Oxford University Press),Cancer Biology and Therapy (Landes Bioscience), Cancer Investigations (Informa Healthcare), Cancer Letters (Elsevier), Toxicology Letters (Elsevier), Anti-Cancer Research, Anti-Cancer Drugs (Wolters Kluwer Health), Asia Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention, and Glycoconjugate Journal(Kluwer Academic) amongst many.
She also has an International Book Chapter to her credit- Chapter: Mitochondria: The Portrayal of an Executioner. In: Mitochondria Structure, Function and Dysfunction. Nova Science Publishers, Inc. New York, USA.

Dr. Malabika Bhattacharjee has a total research experience of more than 20 years
At Cellular and Molecular Immunology Lab, Department of Physiology, Dr. B. C. Roy Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (I.P.G.M.E & R), 244 B, A.J.C Bose Kolkata-20; Malabika Bhattacharjee worked as DST-WB, JRF in the project entitled “Investigations of epidemiological, immunological and therapeutic status in patients with Malignant Brain Tumor : A current approach” from 2002 to 2003. Then as UGC-JRF in the same Lab Malabika Bhattacharjee worked in the project entitled “An immunomolecular approach towards the reduction of Brain Tumor by T11TS- a novel glycopeptide derived from sheep erythrocytes” from 2003 to 2005. Following this, Malabika Bhattacharjee was CSIR-JRF at the same lab, working in the project entitled “Molecular cascade operative in T11TS mediated Apoptosis.” from 2005 to 31.10.2006, after which on 01.11.2006 she joined a Assistant Professor in Zoology at Vivekananda College.
Dr. Malabika Bhattacharjee after joining college was the Principal Investigator of 2 UGC -MRP; Her research interest includes- Immune-modulation in immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment; Modulation of Cell cycle & Cell death regulators in Cancer; Cytogenotoxic changes in fishes exposed to heavy metal toxicity.
Currently as Molecular Cell Biology Lab-In-charge her current research interests include toxicological effects of various environmental toxicants/food additives on the various organs of fishes.
Currently Dr. Malabika Bhattacharjee is also acting as a Co-Guide to a Ph.D Student registered at Department of Biotechnology & Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand-835215
Dr. Bhattacharjee acted as the Program Coordinator “Ornamental Fish Culture”: An UGC Certified Course at Vivekananda College [2008-2013].
Dr. Bhattacharjee was also the Convener of Institutional Animal Ethics Committee-Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur [2008-2010].
Dr. Bhattacharjee is the Joint Convenor, Research Guidance Cell and the Joint Convenor, Eco-Club of Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur from July 2018 till date.
Dr. Bhattacharjee acted as the HoD of UG & PG Department of Zoology, Vivekananda College from March 2018 to March 2021.
Dr. Bhattacharjee has been the PG Coordinator of PG Department of Zoology from 2021 March till date.
Dr. Bhattacharjee has been the Molecular Cell Biology Lab-In-charge form 2020 August till date.

Dr. Bhattacharjee became the Trainer Associate under the UGC scheme Capacity Building of Women Managers in Higher Education and as a Local Co-ordinator Organized a 5 days Residential, Sensitivity/Awareness/Motivation Workshop, under the same scheme, sponsored by University Grants Commission from 24th-28th April, 2013.
Dr. Bhattacharjee also organized a Workshop entitled “Technical knowhow on Microscopes used in Biological Research” was a two days ‘on 4th and 5th January, 2019 in collaboration with Lawrence and Mayo [I] Pvt. Ltd and funded by the Department of Higher Education Science and Technology and Biotechnology [HESTBT], Government of West Bengal.
